Message from the Secretary

We are happy to present before our supporters, associators, and well-wishers the facts about our welfare services as Annual Report of Karunalaya for the year 2019-20. Our programmes currently address issues of children, women and elders, adverse impact of drug abuse and addiction, child health, nutrition, family counselling and livelihood. We hope and trust, our approaches and programme strategies will be a model for the likeminded institutions to adopt in their field.

This year we have given focus to child nutrition, child protection, women empowerment through Swadhar Greh, combating family issues through Family Counselling, recoveries of drug addicts through rehabilitation center, elder care for abandoned old age people and awareness programs.

Organization Profile

Karunalaya was initiated on 1989. It works in Thiruvarur and Ariyalur District of Tamil Nadu. Our Mission include Enhancing equitable and self-sustainable opportunities in the areas of education, health, livelihood, gender, challenged and environment through community based organisations to the marginalised sections including disaster affected.

Objectives :
  • To ensure rights of children, women, socially and physically challenged and disaster affected
  • To promote sustainable development through education, health, livelihood, disaster relief and rehabilitation, de-addiction and community organization activities
  • To promote gender equity and promote socio- economic betterment of women through the development of community based organisations and federating them in collaboration with Govt and other organizations
  • To network with community based organisations, civil society organisations, local, State and Central Govt and national and international NGOs to achieve the vision and mission of the society
  • To carry out advocacy efforts on behalf of children, women and elders
